THE MORAL ESSENCE OF “HUMAN ASSOCIATIONS” IN RUSSIAN THOUGHT OF LATE XIX — EARLY XX CENTURIES
Abstract
Th e article is devoted to updating legacy of Russian philosophers of the late XIX — early XX centuries in the context of addressing the problem of moral basis of social research institutes as a potential beginning of integrative interaction of individuals in the area of “human associations”. Th e author examines the Russian thought in the mainstream of social and economic doctrines and emerging concepts of institutionalism: the author refers to the provisions of the sociology of morality (M. Weber), to the theory of social institutions (E. Durkheim), to the concept of the founder of institutionalism, T. Veblen, to the development of the Austrian economic development school (K. Menger and L. von Mises). Th ere was a reorientation of the idea of methodological individualism in the economic interpretation to the sociological understanding that takes into account the individual’s involvement in the social space. Th is allows us to look at the interaction between the individual and society in terms of collaboration, cooperation, solidarity, allows us to consider the moral life of society in the unity of the person and “human unions.” Th e author points out the orientation of Russian thought abroad XIX — XX centuries to come out of the metaphysical studies to address socially signifi cant moral problems. Based on the analysis of social and ethical discourse that emerged in the Russian philosophy abroad XIX — XX centuries (Chicherin, Novgorodtsev, Frank, Ilyin, Alekseev) the author highlights the concepts that make up the moral content of “human associations”: organicism as the essential characteristic of human associations, individual and social cooperation, the principles of “orientation to the other”, service, solidarity, truth, freedom, sense of justice, tradition.
