FRINGE ELEMENTS IN TRANSITIONAL-PERIOD SOCIETY
Abstract
Th e history of new European civilization is being considered in this article and the time of transitionalperiod society is being analyzed: Hellenism, Renaissance and Postmodern. Each period demonstrated phases of destruction, accumulation and creation. Each period solved its problems in consideration of their objective conditions and subjective factor of public development. New European civilization actuates discussions about world and about man’s place in it. Man was always problematic but on the fringe he is double problematic. Society subject of transitional period becomes accentuated fringe element in a situation where old values do not work and new values are not formed. Life on the fringe is “halfl ife”. He feels nostalgia about past times and lives according to “here and now” principle. Th is leads to deviant behavior. It is necessary to fi nd a strong creative idea — the basis of worthy answer to modern historical challenge. It will be a way out of the anthropological crisis. Refs 12.
