Abstract
The article deals with the process of communication between a reader and a writer of fiction as a process of opening a new reality, a process of generation and loss of the reader`s expectations, which is created by the author. The style of the work of literature is regarded as a means of carrying out this process, understanding of the style leads to acquiring an ability to maintain intellectual and psychological balance between the mind of the author and the mind of the reader, the mind of the characters and the mind of the reader. The paper analyzes the philosophical and aesthetic views of Vladimir Nabokov, the role of preliminary generalizations as an obstacle in the process of reading fiction. The author considers the style of the work as a set of techniques of experiencing the procedural, which can be refined or destroyed by the language. The flip side of writing, which is not based on the expressive means employed by the author in communication with the audience within a real situation, is the difficulty of reading that requires intellectual and psychological effort to create and preserve the author’s detachment from reality of the art world.
