THE PROBLEM OF ETHNIC CULTURE AND LANGUAGE IN THE CONTEXT OF DISPUTES BETWEEN SLAVOPHILES AND WESTERNIZERS

Abstract

Th e article touches upon some aspects of the dispute between slavophiles and westernizers referring to ethnoculture and language. Th e formation of spiritual culture and national self-consciousness depends upon the solution of the problem of correlation between the national and the universal. Slavophiles prove that all universal cultural achievements grow on a native soil; and universal science is the fruit of concrete national communities.
