POWER AND BELIEF IN PHILOSOPHY RUSSIAN AND WESTERN EUROPEAN LIBERALISM
Abstract
Th e article investigates the problem of relations between the state and the church, the government and faith in the philosophy of Russian and Western liberalism. In this light, it analyzes the concepts of classical liberalism of Locke, Kant, Mill, and of the representative of Russian conservative liberalism, B. N. Chicherin. A conclusion is reached about the similarities and diff erences between these concepts, their socio-cultural conditioning assumptions of evolution and development of Russia and Europe, the relation between the individual, society and state. Th e article also examines the current problems of the philosophy of liberalism in the context of understanding the relationship between church and state. Refs. 12.
