Specific features of the secular theology and Christian self-determination in the contemporary World
Abstract
The article examines the secular theology as one of the most infl uential protestant theological trends of the XX-th century. Th is approach appeared in the USA at the 1960’s as an example of the new Christian selfdetermination. It attempts to “change the image of God”, to reconsider most important doctrinal formulations for reinterpretation of the Gospel and discovery of “the meaning of Christ for us today”. The outcome of this research is to fill in certain gaps in Russian historiography through thorough investigation of the creative works of the leaders of the secular theology.
