THE POSSIBILITY OF HOLDING TALKS WITH TEENS
Abstract
Th e article is devoted to analysis of the results of survey of negotiation possibilities where at least one party is a teenager. It showed lack of studies on this subject and relevance of the topic for the teenager’s problem resolving and restorative mediation and conciliation services application in education institutions. Th e survey in which the signifi cant amount of participants took part approved that negotiating with teenagers is possible and can be effi cient. Th e fact that adults’ opinions about teenagers’ preferences and views on their negotiations with diff erent types of partners do not match the teenagers’ estimation of theirs effi ciency has been revealed. Much more positive were teenagers’ estimation of negotiations with teachers and policemen effi ciency compared with adults’ estimation was found. Th e signifi cant role of family members as negotiation teenagers’ partners was identifi ed, especially from teenagers’ point of view. It was shown that both adults with diff erent amount of experience of counteraction and negotiation with teenagers and diff erent categories of teenagers diff er in their relation to negotiating with teenagers. Th e obvious teenagers interest to train negotiating and their wish to get agreement in confl icts both with adults and peers. Th e survey results approve prospective of restorative mediation and conciliation service development in educational system. Refs 5. Figs 1. Tables 2.
