THE IDEA OF “SUPERMANHOOD” IN THE CREATIVITY OF V. ODOYEVSKI
Abstract
In Russian philosophy from the beginning of the XIX century in the understanding of man conception of Godmanhood dominated, according to which man and humanity were understood as an instrument of God (P. Chaadayev, Vl. Solovyov). Th e main purpose of man was to submit himself to the divine will. Th e man in this case became a powerful being by revealing in himself the action of God. However, parallel to this conception another conception was developing that humanity apart from God contains the absolute. Revealing in itself this dimension, mankind becomes supermanhood (but not Godmanhood). Th e author of this concept was V. Odoyevski. In philosophy of Odoevski people by their actions in the world generate good and evil and the fi nal state of the world depends entirely on the ability of mankind to become a supermanhood and to transform the world to perfection.
