Virtualization of subjectivity in the global world
Abstract
The article is a methodological review of systematic studies on the subject in general and social biases in particular. Based on historical, philosophical and socio-cultural material, it traces the development of the concept of the “subject” till its transformation in the concept of “subject-ness”. The conceptualization of the subject is determined by the decisive role of the mind approved in the European spiritual space. The subject is, thus, interpreted as pure mind — “subject” that determines the world order as a whole. Subjectiveness is recognized by European identity if self-suffi ciency of mind fails to be so evident and it can be influenced by external determinants. Social and philosophical focus of the article is on description of the paradoxical situation unfolding in the period of transition from classical capitalism to post-capitalism, in which, on the one hand, the productive capacity of the projection of thinking systematically establishes itself as substance and, on the other hand, — regularly collides with some elements of the reality, which do not yield to full rationalization.
