The circulation of the educational goods
Abstract
The authors proceed from the assumption that the specifi c character of education (non-cost and usefulness) gives the circulation of educational goods, first of all, the nature of the exchange of abilities. Exchange of abilities is at the same time an exchange of work and activities. It is this diverse exchange that creates a public foundation for the extended circulation of the educational goods. Th e authors distinguish three stages in the circulation of the educational goods. The first stage determines the role of free time which is necessary for the production of education and identifies an amount of time needed for the material security of the educational activities. The second stage assumes that its properties regarded as of ideal productive power along with the material factors of production and living labour are transformed into products which exist independently from the education and the process of production. The third, final stage, is characterised by the circulation of a newly created product which has another form quite different from the process of production and education. The usefulness of living labour, as embodied in the product, is inevitably modified in the usefulness of this product. This is the increment of the usefulness which involves the movement of a new useful labor and new incremental knowledge. The authors point out that through this process education become the ideal common good.
